Description

Double album on black vinyls with gatefold cover. Limited 250 copies

For some they are “the only legitimate Blind Guardian successor” (Rock Hard Germany 03/08), for others “the new Running Wild” (Metal Hammer Germany 11/09) but “even when Oorden Ogan regard themselves as following the tradition of these bands, they have got so much more to offer” (Rock Hard Germany 06/08). This new German force in the heavy metal realm is said to be one of the most inventive new bands and the big zines journalists praise the masterly and unique mixture of traditional power metal with modern elements, folk and progressive influences, as well as elements from the gothic field. 2010’s Easton Hope is their third full-length album and its a very strong power metal album. Orden Ogan’s brand of ultra-melodic power metal is roughly 75% classic Blind Guardian and 25% Falconer-style folk melodies, which makes for a very enjoyable final product. The album has real heaviness, real power and is addictive as hell. The vocals are strong, especially when they layer in all the backing vocals on the choruses. “Goodbye,” “All These Dark Years” and “Requiem” are highlights, and the Running Wild tribute song “We Are Pirates” is a lot of fun. Orden Ogan is a band that gets better with each new release, so Easton Hope isn’t quite as good as To The End or Ravenhead. It’s still a completely satisfying power metal album though, and one that just about any fan of Blind Guardian, Falconer, Savage Circus and Persuader should enjoy.
