Description
Lars Kolshus (De Stressless) was twenty years old when he moved from Oslo, Norway, to the United States of America in 1986. Lars attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He there found a band with the goal to record an album that he could bring back to Norway. Lars suggested that they call the project Oslo to honor his Norwegian roots. The cd got released with a black and white cover in 1991. The band went through line-up changes and played several shows in Los Angeles and Burbank at clubs such as Coconut Teazer, The Roxy, and The Troubadour. The band started to gain a following and fans got extra loud when Oslo would play crowd favorites like Crossfire and Don’t Turn Your Back. The band then laid down some new tunes at the Rainbow Sound Studios in Granada Hills California. The band started to have problems in 1993 when the club scene was shifting and melodic rock bands got less and less attention. The band recorded two new tracks, 1919 and Sanctuary, two tracks that were a bit heavier than their last output and more in the wave of bands like Alice In Chains and Kings X. The band changed name to Egodog in 1997 and released more albums. But after the first album Lars decided it was time to move back to Norway. The Oslo album from 1991 has been seen as one of the top collector’s pieces on the market with the album fetching over one thousand dollars on more than one occasion. Then in 2022 came this officiall re-issue with the complete debut album as well as 4 bonus tracks.
