12th of September 1980 was a special night in Ozzy Osbournes career. He had been fired from Black Sabbath and after a time of too much booze he got himeself together and started his solo career. But it was that magic opening night in Glasgow on his first solo tour that proved for him that this actually could work. The Apollo in Glasgow was sold-out. A week later the first solo album, Blizzard Of Ozz was released in Europe and it was another success. After a successful European tour the tension arose between Ozzy and his wife Sharon towards Daisley and Kerslake over contract issues regarding their names, money, credit and royalties and this led to Sharon firing Daisley and Kerslake in March of 1981. Ozzy, Sharon and Rhoads went back to the United States to look for a new drummer and bassist. Within days former-Black Oak Arkansas, Pat Travers and Gary Moore drummer, Tommy Aldridge, and former-Quiet Riot bassist, Rudy Sarzo, were hired. Blizzard Of Ozz was released in the United States and Canada on March 27, 1981 and it became a quick success even there. On April 22, the band kicked off the North America leg of the tour and 6 days later, on April 28, the band went to Channel 31(WUHF) TV Studios in Rochester, New York to film a live performance of I Don’t Know, Suicide Solution, Mr. Crowley and Crazy Train, which were broadcast on the After Hours TV show as live promo-videos. After the Channel 31 performance the band flew back to Canada to perform at the St.Denis Theatre in Montreal on the same day. This album was recorded that night, even though the cover artwork says it was taped live at the Starplex Auditorium in Dallas. The was taped by a professional radio station and the guitar solo from the song Suicide Solution from this performance was dubbed into the Cleveland recording of Suicide Solution for the Tribute album. This recording from Montreal captures the band live with Randy Rhoads without overdubs or editing and the overall sound is rawer than the Tribuate To Randy Rhoads album. Still the guitar work and compositional skills of the late, great Rhoads are even more spectacularly impressive in this setting than they are in a recording studio or on the Tribute album.
