In common with a number of other death metal bands, Paganizer is the brainchild of one Rogga Johansson. Given the changing line-up over the years, it would be fair to say that Paganizer is Rogga. To call Rogga a death metal legend would be massive understatement. Under various monikers, he has masterminded something like 5000 death metal albums so far, and still he ploughs on. Okay, maybe a slight exaggeration, but over several projects, Rogga has been prolific for twenty years, with Paganizer the main outlet for his creative talents. It all started in 1994 with Terminal Grip, the short-lived forerunner to Paganizer and the band that gives this compilation its title, 20 Years In A Terminal Grip. Taking what will presumably be a very short breather to reflect, here we have a retrospective of Paganizer and Terminal Grip’s combined two decades so far. Following Terminal Grip’s two demo releases, Paganizer have released nine studio albums, along with various EPs and split releases. The first CD is titled “The Band’s Faves”, picking from that extensive back catalogue, while the second is “Rarities, Demos And Unreleased Stuff”. In all, there are 46 tracks and with a “booklet full of liner notes, photo collages with old line-ups and a bunch of rare pictures through the years”, the whole package represents exceptional value for money.
