Description
Someone needs to take a trip to Italy and tell the people living there that there are other types of heavy metal besides overblown, ostentatious, epic power metal. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy a good ‘flight of fantasy’ disc as much as the next guy, but lately there have been too many Italian bands that have been begged, borrowed, or just plain stolen from some other epic power metal acts. Pandaemoniums debut album has bits of Rhapsody, pieces of Blind Guardian, chunks of Hammerfall and so on. On the other hand if you love power metal more than anything else then there’s no problem buying this one. It’s the usual fast power metal with sugary choruses and the like. However, there is a slight hint of some folk elements, perhaps like a very distant cousin of Elvenking. If you have liked some of the other Underground Symphony releases then try this one. You know exactly what you’re getting with 95% of their stuff – competent, if generic, melodic power metal. I wouldn’t count this as my favourite power metal album but that doesn’t mean it’s not enjoyable, because it is. Power metal fans will love this and im also sure there will be people that will loathe this act too for just being a copycat. Gatefold cover Track listing: 1. The Alchemist 2.
