Pantera would become one of the most interesting metal bands in the 90s. They would put to rest any and all remnants of the 80s metal scene, almost single handedly demolishing any notion that hair metal, speed metal, power metal were anything but passé. Loathe to admit it, the Texas band had in fact been one of those ’80s glam metal bands, releasing fairly unsuccessful (and later disowned) glam-inspired music throughout much of the decade. The about-face came with the addition of vocalist Phil Anselmo, and the key turning point was the band’s major-label debut, Cowboys From Hell in 1990. This album features a show the band did at Joes Garage in Forth, Texas on May 19th 1988. The show has become legendary because it featured Kerry King Of Slayer on guitar. We also have 3 tracks from a rehearsal with Kerry King where the band performs the Fleetwood Mac track Green Manalishi, that Judas Priest would immortalized for metal audience as well as the Priest classic Hell Bent For Leather. Nice to have a live show with Anselmo where they still performed tracks from the Power Metal album. This album also includes 3 rare studio tracks; Puck Off, a track written to Dallas Stars in 2003, Pre-hibernation from the SpongeBob SquarePants series in 2001 and Lights Comes Out Of Black that Pantera wrote with Rob Halford on vocals for the Buffy The Vampire Slayer soundtrack that was released in 1992. They had no problems to get Rob to this with them as Rob really adore the new metal sound that was shown on the Cowboys From Hell album. He brought Pantera out as support act for the Painkiller tour and were so inspired that he started writing material like this himself in 1991, material that later would become Fight.
