After taking a trip back in time with the Draconian Times MMXI live album and also Gregor Mackintosh’s return to his crusty Doom / Death Metal roots with Vallenfyre (along his mates from My Dying Bride, Doom and At The Gates), its time for Paradise Losts 13th studio album entitled ‘Tragic Idol’. The album was recorded at The Chapel studios in Lincolnshire, England. Vocals were recorded at the Fascination Street Studios in Orebro, Sweden by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Borknagar) who, again, also produced, mixed and mastered the album. Gregor Mackintosh (guitar) mentioned in a Terrorizer interview: We’ve probably been influenced more by classic metal and classic doom metal on this record than anything else. Nick Holmes (vocals) adds: “I wrote a lot about truth and honesty. We’ve got a song called ‘Honesty In Death’. It’s pretty much about when people are dying, they’re nice. When they are healthy, they’re devious, but when they’re on their death bed they say nice things.”
