Description

A highly skilled, versatile drummer, Peter Erskine has anchored big bands and jazz-rock fusion groups. He’s known for sophisticated rhythms, distinctive accompaniment, and powerful, rippling solos. He won the modern drummer readers poll for Main Stream Jazz drummers in 1995 and he has played with superstar bands like Weather Report and Steely Dan and with such players as Bill Frisell, Chick Corea and Gary Burton. This special mini album was released by Vic Firth which Peter Erskine has been a dedicated user of throughout his career. The mini album comes with a spoken intro by Erskine as well as 4-tracks taken from his History Of The Drum album. The History Of The Drum album is a very good example of music depicting the drums. The pieces are nice because they reflect the flavour of Africa with the percussion and rhythm found in many of the pieces. This album is a good choice for anyone who enjoys music with drums and overall rhythm.
