Supergroups have been common in the realm of hard rock for decades — some have worked wonders (Cream), while some, well, stunk (too many to mention). One of the more obscure ones to surface was the 80s outfit Phenomena, who debuted in 1985 with a self-titled release, and featured contributions from the likes of Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple), Don Airey (Ozzy Osbourne), and a trio of ex-Whitesnake members — Mel Galley, Neil Murray, and Cozy Powell. The band managed to created a minor hit with their debut album featuring polished, keyboard-heavy melodic rock. The Project X album features Phenomena material written between 1985 and 1996 (including some rare and hard to find tracks). This is best of album is a strong release from start to finish. Phenomena is one of the greatest project Glenn Hughes was ever involved in and here he delivers some of the best vocal performances you will ever hear. This is melodic hardrock with an eclectic mix of arena rock ,80s metal and new wave but never pop and always with strong musicians. Besides Glenn Hughes we find amongst others Cozy Powell, Ray Gillen, Mel and tom Galley, Don Airey, Neil Murray, Scott Gorham, Pat Thrall and more
