Description

Polish pressed music cassette. Clear cassette without print.

Poland is probably the country that had the most record labels in the world that only released cassettes. But even though there were lots of labels the market was still small as they only printed these for their own market inside of Poland. And a label in one town maybe lacked the distribution for another town and so on. A Warzaw or Krakow label might print more copies of a tape then labels from a smaller town. So even if there are thousands of releases you will notice how rare some are if you start to try to list the catalog number of one particular label. Some cassettes just rarely shows up. Most Polish cassette labels disappeared in May of 1994 when Polish Parliament passed on a new copyright law. One of these many Polish labels were the small and rather unknown label Orion. No address has been mentioned on these releases. One of the first tapes the band ever released was the American black metal act Von’s Satanic Blood demo that in other countries was released in 1992. This was Orion’s third release which gives you a hint that this label might have been rather late into the market, excisting between 1992 and 1994. Most of the tapes have just clear cassettes without name or print but a few titles came with nice looking paper labels. Approx 450 tapes were released before the label vanished. Anyone who has more information about the label are welcome to drop me an email. Hopefully more information will be cleared in the future

Apparently disappointed with critical hatred of their previous work, Poison made a bid to be taken seriously after the massive success of Open Up and Say…Ahh! Even the title of Flesh & Blood indicates a desire for more substance and reality in their music, as do darker songs like “Valley of Lost Souls,” “(Flesh & Blood) Sacrifice,” “Life Loves a Tragedy,” and a more reflective power ballad, “Life Goes On.” There’s still the adolescent sleaze of the Top Five hit “Unskinny Bop,” but for the most part, Poison shies away from party anthems in favor of Bret Michaels’ toughness-in-the-face-of-tribulation philosophizing. Sometimes it works surprisingly well, aided by the band’s most consistent songwriting and a wider musical range that occasionally veers into swampy blues-rock. At other times, though, Michaels comes off as well intentioned but too self-consciously proud of his own ambition to recognize when he oversteps his bounds, as on parts of the hit ballad “Something to Believe In.” Compared to their earlier output, Flesh & Blood is by no means a bad album (especially with the presence of one of their best songs, “Ride the Wind,” an ode to motorcycles and their surrounding lifestyle). It’s just not what Poison does best.
