Description

Mega rare original Hungarian pressing with a poster signed by 3 members with a black marker. This copy was sealed with a Metal Hammer sticker, half that sticker is still in this copy. There is also a promotional postcard with the band in this version. One of their rarest vinyl releases

Pokolgep’s 1991 album Adj Uj Eröt was their first album with their new line-up featuring Joe Rudan on vocals and Norbert Jung on guitar. The line-up occurred after Joszef Kalapacs and Laszlo Nagyfi left to form Omen. This new line-up came up with a really strong album. If you want to compare it with something then maybe if you think of Metal Church’s The Human Factor and throw in that Eastern European fatalism as well as some blazing heavy metal then you have Adj Uj Eröt, in other word a real winner. It opens with The Bell Tolls For Me with an acoustic intro and a calm first verse. You think youre in for a ballad but then the track explodes out of nowhere with probably the most monstrously overwhelming chorus Pokolgep has ever done, combined with some over-the-top riff work as well. The second verse is just as insane as the chorus, and the guitar solo is something out of this world. Maybe the finest song they’ve ever done. The title track is a blazing speed metal number with some choppy, almost thrash riff work at times. Then, “Who Lives Differently” brings back the overwhelming riff work that is something straight out of a later Blind Guardian release. Almost as good as the opening track. Then, “Vanquish Evil” continues in the same pattern, just rearing everything apart with raw power. Some really great riff work and also awesome soloing to be found here. This is some of the best metal ever to come out of Hungary. The track Hol Van A Szo/Where Is The Word is a ballad, but a really good one and the Swedish group Hammerfall made a cover of this song on their album Infected with the new title Send Me A Sign. The album ends with I Wont Change The World is somewhat heavier but not as bombastic or up-tempo as previous songs. Overall you have an album that is half a very good album while the other half is an insanely great one.
