Swedish metallers Powertrips, from Pitea, debut album Cold Black Tie was recorded, mixed and mastered in 2006, and contains 10 hard hitting songs. Powertrip bassist Peter Uven earlier stated: The album is gonna be a killer! It´s honest heavy R n R!! We are very pleased with the way the finished version turned out. Powertrip is a female fronted act and singer Vikkis Johansson has a sound and style that is more reminiscent of 60s and 70s rock. A lot of bands coming out of Sweden as of late seem to fall into the glam metal category. Powertrip sounds nothing like the majority of the bands coming from Sweden as of late. If anything, they probably have more in common with Soundgarden, than they do Crashdiet. Their bass-laden music is heavy, and unpretentious. Cold Black Lie shows the raw potential that this band has. Powertrip changed name after this disc to Scars Of Paradise, to better reflect their music. The band has appeared on national television on both SVT and TV4.
