Proud from Landskrona started out in 1982 under the moniker of Burn (not to be confused with Burn from Sandviken) and under that name they released one demo. Then they changed name to Loud And Proud but shortened it to just Proud. This is one of those mammoth pieces of Swedish metal that sadly seems to have gone unnoticed among metal lovers. The band recorded this disc at the EMI studios Stockholm in April of 1984 and with the right funds and a major label you can expect a great sound. EMI released this disc later in 1984 and its an album that has it all. Think about Overdrive, Torch, Wizz, Saigon and Axewitch and youll understand that you have an album here that includes all the right elements that made the mid 80s metal climate in Sweden so interesting. The opening track Star Fighter, the closing Star Of The Masquerade or Echoes From The Past with that lovely guitar work should all be hailed as classics. This band from Landskrona made really made an album that they should be very proud of. This is an essential purchase if youre into Swedish metal or to any fan of classic European metal of the 1980s.
