I Am I was released as a single from Queensryche 1994 album, Promised Land. Promised Land was the fifth studio album by Queensryche and it would become their highest charting record to date. The single I Am I peaked at #8 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock and at #40 on the UK single list. I Am I is driven by a heavy riff and Tate’s trademark vocals to a background of percussion instruments. Chris DeGarmo performs cello and sitar parts on this song as well as the guitar solo. This single also feature three rare none album tracks. First out is Real World taken from the soundtrack to Last Action Hero, it is followed by the previously unreleased Dirty Lil Secret, while the last track on the single is a full band version of Someone Else. The original version of the track that appears on Promised Land is a stripped down version with just Tate on vocals and DeGarmo on piano, while this single version has the full band.
