Quintessence from Vaxjo, Sweden have played together for several years and are firmly rooted within art music and classical jazz and has reached a high musical level. The music presented here are written by three Swedish composers, who have in their own indiviudal way have considerable status in Swedish muiscal life: Bo Nilsson, Stefan Nilsson and Georg Riedel (Nilsson and Riedel also plays on this album). The track Labyrint is specially written by Georg Riedel for this Quintessence album. Finding new ways, trying new musical styles: these are just a couple of the ideas behind this record. Its is new music, but its not avant-garde.
