Description
‘Bent Out Of Shape’ is Rainbows seventh album and it was released in 1983. This album is usually pointed at reviews as a commercial effort made by the band, which tried to repeat the success obtained with the song ‘I surrender’ and the album ‘Difficult To Cure’. Due to this fact, some of the songs, like the first single released from this album, ‘Street Of Dreams’, are usually considered to be more in the AOR style, instead of the Hard Rock sound of earlier Rainbow albums. Well looking back there is very little AOR/hard rock from today that can stand against a true and tested classic like this album. The band gets plenty of acclaim for the Ronnie James Dio trilogy mid to late 70s outings, but when Ritchie turned his Rainbow from a hard hitting metal band to a slick pop friendly rock band, many turned their backs and covered their ears, declared blasphemy and stubbornly decided not to even give the new incarnation the time of day. Oh but what music they missed! The last Rainbow album to feature the vocals of Joe Lynn Turner and the production of Roger Glover. And to be honest the band went out on a high note. This album is far removed from the majestic ‘Rising’ album. But i believe it was the music that Blackmore really wanted to play. Official German cassette Track listing: 1. Stranded 2.
