Italys Raw Power are considered to be one of the most seminal hardcore punk bands. Contemporary fans include Cripple Bastards and Napalm Death’s Barney Greenway. Thisb and was formed in Reggio Emilia back in 1981, first under the name of Offs Limit but then changing name to Raw Power, a name taken from The Stooges’s third album. While touring in the U.S. in 1984, the band played in Los Angeles with punk legends Dead Kennedys. It was at that show that they were spotted by Bill Sassenberger, owner of Toxic Shock Records. The band signed a record deal with Bill, which resulted in the album Screams From Yhe Gutter, which sold more than 40,000 copies strictly through independent distribution and shops. This album quickly made Raw Power a name and the band has since then shared stages with Circle Jerks, Adolescents, D.O.A., Bad Brains, Agnostic Front, Minor Threat, Suicidal Tendencies, among many others. Back in 1986 they even had Guns N Roses as openng act at a small club in Seattle, Washington. The album Fight was released back in 1995 and for this album the band tried to achieve a sound more akin to their live shows. The album has all the bands trademarks and its an essential blast of the band’s musical frenzy, screaming vocals, and dead-on social and political commentary.
