Arguably the most important doom metal band from Finland ever, Reverend Bizarre have brought their gospel of misery out to the world with a relentless stream of quality releases. If you have heard Reverend Bizarre before, there is no need to explain what exactly the fuss all about is. For those less fortunate, a few words are in order. Just how minimal are the chances of making fresh sounding contemporary metal that still adheres strictly to the classic examples set by their hallowed forefathers such as St. Vitus and Pentagram? Reverend Bizarre not only succeed in rising above the paradox with sheer lunatic drive and passion for their craft, but are setting the standards for the rest of the pack. The band’s original plan was to release these seven tracks as an extended EP titled “Reverend Bizarre Blesses You With Fire”, but fate and Spinefarm had other things in store for this material. And eventually it came to pass that the seven tracks were released on a bonus cd titled ‘Return to the Rectory’ with the cd-reissue of the band’s first album ‘In The Rectory’. Now, for the first time in human history, Return To The Rectory is available on its own and on vinyl. This vinyl edition is a double vinyl wrapped in a thick foil-stamped gatefold cover featuring the Goya painting ‘Aquelarre’.
