Description

The ensuing multi-platinum international success of Bon Jovi allowed Richie Sambora the freedom to take a solo diversion in 1991 for the ‘Stranger In This Town’ record. The release was much anticipated by Bon Jovi fans as Sambora had surprised many with the quality of lead vocals on previous tours. On this album Sambora plays songs and styles that otherwise would not fit within the boundaries of Bon Jovi with a heavy blues influence. The album included a valuable contribution from Eric Clapton. Others involved were King Crimson bassist Tony Levin, Journey bassist Randy Jackson, his Bon Jovi colleagues keyboard player David Bryan and drummer Tico Torres. The tracks ‘The Answer’ and ‘One Light Burning’ would be co-compositions penned with Shark Frenzy colleague Bruce Foster. Ex-Shark Frenzy bassist Tom Marolda also donated his songwriting talents too, scoring credits on ‘Ballad Of Youth’.
