Rick Springfield’s 1985 album, Tao, features the hit singles State Of the Heart (originally by fellow Australians Mondo Rock) and Celebrate Youth. The programming and synths have a mid-80s vibe, the melodies are powerful and the lyrics are among the best he’s ever written. He would record more high quality albums, but this one is consistent.
