Description
Rare original Uk single on Decca with original cover artwork and blue Decca label A very rare Decca single with Irish singer Ron McQuinn. This single was produced by Thin Lizzy main man Phil Lynott. The A-side track was written by Brendan ‘Brush’ Shiels probably for Ron McQuinn to record and release as a single (released on the 11th of March 1977). Shiels also decided to include the track on his own solo album (released in Ireland by Hawk records later in 1977). Ron McQuinns version had not only Lizzy man Lynott as producer but also Eric Bell on guitar and Brian Downey on drums. Brush Shiels version that was released later has Shiels on guitar, harmonica, piano and vocals while he called Lizzy guitarist Eric Bell to lay down guitar work on his version too. Brendan Shiels who wrote the track were the founder and bass player of Irelands original rock and roll power act Skid Row together with drummer Noel Bridgeman and vocalist Phil Lynott in Dublin back in 1967 (Gary Moore would join Skid Row in January of 1968 when he was only 16 years old). It was also Shiels who taught Lynott the rudiments of bass so he could form his own band Thin Lizzy when he was sacked from Skid Row and Orphanage. The B-side for this single has even more Lizzy connection. Eric Bell and Brian Downey are playing on it but for this side Lynott took the instrumental track Banshee from Lizzys 1974 album Night Life and extended it slightly and wrote lyrics to it. Of course both tracks sound very much Thin Lizzy. The only thing missing is Lynotts powerful voice. Track listing: 1. Look At Love Bleed 2. Banshee
