Roxx Gang were easily the most underrated, misunderstood band of the late 80’s and early 90’s. If ever there was a band that should have attained superstardom it was Roxx Gang, Virgin Records first American hard rock signing. Unfairly lumped in with the whole hair band scene, Roxx Gang truly had the makings to become one of America ‘s greatest rock n’ roll bands. And for one glorious moment… they were. Their cult classic first album Things You’ve Never Done Before was a rock n’ roll tour de force that had about as much in common with the L. A. hair wimps as a hungry shark does to a bowl of goldfish. The idea to their 1998 album Mojo Gurus started some time earlier when the band did a birthday party show at the Voodoo Lounge. The band didnt want to do a normal Roxx Gang show so they did some blues stuff and performed under the name of Mojo Gurus. The whole experience were so much fun that the band started to expand and adding more bluesy stuff to their music. So here we have a voodoo blues vibe album with hints of Canned Head and The Yardbirds. Cinderella pulled it off with their Heartbreak Station album. Roxx Gang are doing the same thing. This is rock in its purest form and its all done with style. Give this several spins as it will grow on you. Also features two acoustic Roxx Gang classics as bonus.
