The first stepping stones of Runemagick was taken in 1990 by Nicklas Terror Rudolfsson when he wanted to write music inspired by bands such as Bathory, Treblinka/Tiamat, Celtic Frost, Nihilist/Entombed, Candlemass and so on. The first taste of the record business ended quite sour when a US label offered them a deal but then disappeared when facts showed that he was an unreliable business partner and the idea of the band almost fell apart before gathered a new line up in 1997 and were offered a record deal with Century Media that would last up to the year 2001. Without a record deal the band decided to release their first ever live album. The result was Dark Live Magick a vinyl only release made by a smaller independent label. The album was recorded at a small private party gig at the Lje-Gården in Ljungskile, Sweden with the line up of Nicklas Rudolfsson – guitar/vocals, Fredrik Johnsson – guitar, Emma Karlsson – bass and Daniel Moilanen on drums. The sound quality is excellent, the pacing good, and the songs have a great flow to them and the band keeps their songs tight, structured, and internally consistent in a way that gives them a lot of power. The album also features 2 bonus tracks taken from an old demo. These two tracks are also worth having in your collection, especially the kick-ass Lord Of The Grave.
