Ruthless was formed back in Los Angeles, California in 1982 and its hard to believe that this is only their third output since then. The 2019 album Evil Within is however very much true to the bands style, hard-hitting Us power metal. The devilish Storm Of Souls begins the record – conveying amplified adrenaline, harmonious creativity and a blistering barrage of furiously frenzied formulas of flamboyant finesse and boisterously bouncy fabrications. Adroitly attributing crunchy creativity, groovy foundations of borderline firepower and expertise – diverse with wondrously prodigious utilizations, vehement versatility and stampeding rampages of relentlessly organic substance…reminding me a lot of old-school Denner/Shermann – atmospherically and instrumentally. Vocalist Sammy DeJohn consistently delivers clean, high-pitches pipes with raw screams of vengeful malice and the riffs are razor-sharp and the album has alot of speed. Overall the band has almost outdone themselves with this one, definitely worth the time.
