Description
It may have been some time coming but Scamp the intense Danish technical metal group have recorded the follow up to 2008’s Mirror Faced Mentality, Scamp’s first album which was awarded debut metal album of the year at the Danish Metal Music Awards. On The Deadcalm we find none other than Michael Bogballe (ex. Mnemic vocalist) who does a good job to adding vocals to Scamps hard hitting barrage. The album feels more serious than their last release, darker and more powerful with better, with more melodically suiting lead solos. The album feels like a mix between their last release, older Mnemic albums, and Synthetic Breed. Scamp’s not your laid back standard patterns kind of metal band they are up for a challenge as they go about flexing their musical muscle. Unleashing some truly heavy music from the get go and there is little room for breathers, as this album is a predominately unrelenting collection of songs. And what you get here and elsewhere is not only that opportunity to indulge with some seriously potent music, as Scamp is also a group that likes to groove it up in a technical kind of way with ample precision. Which certainly isn’t a bad thing and neither is their second album The Deadcalm.
