In the late 80s Geffen records signed two pair of brothers. One pair was the singer Ricky Nelsons sons Gunnar and Matthew Nelson while the other were Brent and Darren Rademaker. The Rademaker brothers, under the name of Shadowland, were first out with their debut album, released in 1989 but it would be Nelson debut album released the year after that would make the biggest money for the label. So Brents and Darrens Shadowland never went as far as the label had hoped but the band produced some fine guitar based rock with this and their second and last album, The Beauty Of Escaping, and they had a bit more edge than Nelson. Shadowland never cared about trends and built their albums around strong songwriting and musicianship. The Rademaker would change the name of their band to Further when they were dropped by Geffen and they were then headed into the grunge indie rock genre to survive in the music scene that would take place in the early to mid 90s.
