The German metal act Sinner called it a day in 1988 and Mat Sinner, vocalist Ralf Scheepers and guitarist Tom Naumann formed Primal Fear. After a few years Mat decided it would be time to revive his old band and in 1992 they returned with the album No More Alibis. No More Alibis was an album that never reached the level of the earlier Sinner material. This was a rock mainstream album that few Sinner fans took to their heart. A year later Mat returned with Respect, an album that more or less followed the path of No More Alibis, melodic pop rock. Just listen to Modern World, a keyboard rocking song with lots of pop elements. The band also decides to re-record the track Knife In My Heart from the 1987 album Dangerous Charm. The reason for this is unknown and the end result is even more rock than the original version. Sure heavy metal was out of date in the early 90s and Respect might sound a tidy bit harder and more powerful than No More Alibis but it would still be some years before this band would turn out a pure heavy metal album again.
