Swedish / American death doomsters Skeletal Spectre, formed back in 2008, returned in 2024 with their The Cemetery Stillness album. It encompasses the best of the early 90s death metal scene but with some groove and heavy riffing that brings them closer to the doom/death subgenre. Rogga Johansson seems to be in a menacing and disturbing form when he comes up with riffs and sounds that reminds you of the Sunlight Studio years. This album features one massive ode called The Night Dies that runs into 9 parts. Skeletal Spectre is able to constantly move between doom death, old-school death metal and thrash metal without losing any of their edge
