1991 was an amazing year for Slayer. They had released ‘Seasons In The Abyss’ in October of 1990 and the album had received mostly positive reviews and the album was selling well. The band were headlining the Clash Of The Titans tour that took part in Europe in 1990 with Megadeth, Testament and Suicidal Tendencies joining them on the bill. Clash Of The Titans were an amazing tour that are still talked about among thrash metal heads. Slayer did a short Japan tour in December after the European part of the Clash Of The Titans had ended. Then it was off for a headlining tour through the United States with Testament as support act during January to March of 1991 before taking another turn around America during May to July that year with the American version of Clash Of The Titans were Alice In Chains had replaced Suicidal Tendencies. Two major tours across the States however wasn’t enough and the band headed back to Europe on their own headlining tour where they performed 19 shows through November of 1991 with Mindfunk opening for them. This part of the European tour was called ‘Decade Of Aggression’ and some of the shows were taped for the coming live album bearing the same name. Praying To Satan was recorded during this tour at a gig at Le Zenith in Paris on the 22nd of November of 1991. Trust me, going to a Slayer show on this tour would drain you totally. This is a furious live show with a good soundboard recording featuring tracks like the exhilarating South of Heaven, the exhausting Dead Skin Mask and War Ensemble and then you have all the classics like Hell Awaits, Raining Blood, Die By The Sword, Born Of Fire and so on. Trust me you need this at this point of their career the band could do no wrong.
