Description
Still sealed digipak edition with bonus track
Squealer is a band that has the effect on you that when you first hear an album from them you are not overly impressed by what are presented but slowly and surely you it starts to sink in and you seem to like it more and more. The fifth album ‘Under The Cross’ is certainly no exception to this fact either. It is not that the album is horrible the first time you listen to it, far from it but it just has that feeling that you have heard this before. The more you listen however the more it starts to differentiate itself and the more it starts to draw you in. Squealer play melodic metal that can range from basic power metal (Edguy, Helloween) to pure metal (Primal Fear, Judas Priest) and they throw in a few thrash elements here and there for flavor. Hell there is even a song that has a Goth kind of feel to it (Fade Away). At times the differing styles can just sound like they are not sure which road they really want to take but at other times it all seems to come together. The vocals are not your basic high pitch that you would normally associate with this style of music but are at times a bit harsh and rough sounding.
