Steel Inferno is a relatively new effervescent female fronted heavy metal band from Copenhagen, Denmark. They have a multinational cast from France, Poland and Denmark. In 2014, they cut a demo cassette and later offered a 7″ single. Then on the 24th of December 2016 they delivered their debut full-length album, Aesthetics Of Decay. Their music is a time warp back to Eighties traditional heavy metal, leaning heavily to the side of speed and thrash metal. Typical of the genre, Steel Inferno works with twin guitar harmony and riffs. Yet theses riffs are best described as razor sharp and raging. With little doubt they dominate the Steel Inferno sound. After that it’s the pummelling and punishing rhythm section. Both guitars and the rhythm section, when combined with the thrashy speed, are rather relentless. They definitely run over Karen Collatz vocal performance. You can hear her, but she’s taking a beating. Aesthetics Of Decay is a fast album and there are quite a few good ideas in here, but the album lacks diversity. The unrelenting tempo becomes repetitive. If you would listen to one track as a stand-alone piece then its really enjoyable, but listening to the complete album at once then it loses some of its power. The coolest thing is the track “Magic Sword” (only available on the cassette and cd version of the album). Its a cover by the obscure Danish heavy metal act Kim Sixx. Cool to hear that someone dug up and did a cover of this amazing act. And not only that here Karen really shines. Its a great cover with much respect to the original version. So overall the band showed so much potential with their demo and single and it somehow still feels like they didnt really nailed it this time but still has so much potential. I know there’s a lot of fans out there that has so much need for speed so if raging razor sharp speedy thrash metal is your thing then this is the album for you
