Steve Perry is the charismatic, powerhouse lead singer of Journey who launched a solo career in 1984 with the album Street Talk. Then it would take another ten years before the singer released his second solo album For The Love Of Strange Medicine. This album sounded more mature then his debut but an AOR album in the early grunge years was doomed to fail commercially. You Better Wait was the lead single that managed a number 29 spot, mainly because Perry’s voice soared throughout its entirety, proving he could still utilize his greatest asset. This is a beautiful soulful album and it feels like Perry himself give Journey an apology with the track Anyway where he sings; We believed in music, brothers til the end. Compared to his debut it feels like age is just making Steve better as a person and as a musician. Fans of Journey and melodic hardrock need this
