Description
I have been a fan of the Italian horror-combo Death SS for a very long time. Albums such as ‘Black Mass" or "Heavy Demons" should be in every good collection of occult metal. The glory days of doomy horror metal seems to be behind them. ‘Do What Thou Wilt’ sounded very modern and gothic and with ‘Humanomalies’ the band gets even more modern. Musically somewhere between Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie with a shot of gothic. Any old fan probably will be shocked at the first listen. Even if the band sounds more electronic than ever we still find Steve Sylvester with his typical flair. We get great choruses, hooks and a gripping, hypnotic rhythm en masse. The first song after the intro ‘Grand Guignol’ grips your throat, shakes you a lot and then lets you fall down like a wet bag. The album also includes tracks like the dark, effect-laden ‘Hell On Earth’, the electro-hit ‘Pain’, ‘Sinful Dove’ and ‘Evil Freaks’, where we finally get some fat guitars again. So if youre into bands like Rob Zombie, Nine Inch Nails or Marilyn Manson then check this out because Death SS still delivers creative songs and a lot of atmosphere Track listing: 1. The Sideshow 2.
