Description

Recorded live November 28, 1989 at the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque while Stevie Ray Vaughan and his band Double Trouble were on tour for their new album, In Step. During this tour, Vaughan, who had just been through rehab, was out to prove to his fans that he was back with a vengeance, and this live album captures that newfound fury perhaps better than any other live recording. That night Stevie Ray mostly played songs from In Step, including self-penned tunes like “Tightrope” and “Wall Of Denial,” which spoke directly to his addictions, as well as classic blues songs like Willie Dixon’s “Let Me Love You Baby” and Buddy Guy’s “Leave My Little Girl Alone.” Also includes a guest appearance by Jeff Beck! This show and the night after at McNichols Arena in Denver, Colorado, the last two stops on Stevie Ray Vaughan’s 28-stop “The Fire Meets The Fury” tour with Jeff Beck in 1989 — were the last recorded shows of Vaughan’s career, coming just eight months before his death. Luckily, the sound is decent on this release, and Vaughan, finally clean and sober at this point, was arguably playing at his peak, making this a close-to-essential pick up for ardent fans of this brilliant Texas guitarist.
