Description

Sventoyar is a Slavonic folk metal act from Kharkiv in Ukraine. Their second album Our Strength starts with a long track in which the nice female vocals can be noticed. Theyre a bit different from what were used to, although they sound Slavic, they dont have this typical folk-style way of singing. There are some strange pieces is this track which are very enjoyable when you listen to them some more. The guitars have a very full and thick sound. Sventoyar uses both clean male and female voices mixed with a male doing a metal voice. The band also incorporates lots of ethnic instruments in a nice way. There are also tracks that sound like Slavic folk songs done in metal style. Youll find the folk influences on all tracks even when its pounding metal tracks full of raging guitars and fierce drums. The voice of their female singer Poloneya is everywhere and that’s a good thing. This album was released in 2012 and its hard not to wonder what this Ukrainan band thinks of this album artwork after Russia and Belarus turned their back on Ukraine when Russian invaded Ukraine in 2014.
