Algy Ward (former member of The Damned) formed Tank back in 1980. Tank was often compared to Motörhead as both bands, trios fronted by singing bassists, played a loose, dirty, almost punk-styled metal with often colourful lyrics. Algy Wards Tank is not to be confused with the other version of the band. In a 2009 statement to Classic Rock magazine, Ward slammed his former bandmates for taking a version of the band out on the road in Europe without him. He said: I wish the loyal Tank fans around the world to know that the band playing various European festivals under the name of Tank do so without my consent. The band name Tank, associated logos and images are my sole intellectual property and copyright. He released his first Tank solo album, Breath Of The Pit, in 2013 and followed it up with Sturmpanzer in 2018. If you love the rawness of the old Tank then you will probably dig this disc more than the other Tank. The album has come out very well considering Algy is playing everything. Soundwise its much like Breath Of The Pit, a better production wouldnt hurt, but I prefer this album before Breath Of The Pit, the songs flows better and is in typical Tank style. Its great to hear Algy’s voice again and even if it lacks in some departments, dont know how much we shall demand from a one man army, its still 12 new Algy tracks and for that im very grateful.
