Description

In this quartet’s case, there’s something very amiable about their enthusiasm and wealth of ideas, which sets up an album based on a strong set of fundamentals, and powerful spirit. – Powerplay magazine Taste Of Tears was founded 1998 in Chur, Switzerland. Back then, the first songs were strongly influenced by Melodic Death Metal but already had varying structures and rhythmic diversity. After several shows and a second place at a local talent showcase, Taste Of Tears recorded 2004 a first demo and during the following year the band extended their still in death metal rooted sound with a lot of progressive and technical elements. With the joining of long time friend Ivan Strimer on vocals in 2006, they crossed the borders of Death Metal with more variety on vocals and even wider stylistic influences. On the other side, the lyrics incorporate critical and metaphorical views of actual themes and thoughts. The 2007 released promo cd ‘Architects of Downfall’ received good reviews in the underground scene and they were compared to Death and Control Denied. After opening slots for Legion Of The Damned, Entombed, Cataract, Negligence, Mendeed and even some local headliner shows, Taste Of Tears began to write songs for their first full length album, ‘Once Human’. Between August and October 2010, 8 songs of progressive and technical Death Metal were recorded in their own studio. The album was mixed at Newsound Studios by legendary Tommy Vetterli and mastered by Dan Suter at Echochamber. Track listing: 1. Ames Room 2. Phlegraean Fields 3. Once Human (Pinnacle And Pit) 4. Architects of Downfall 5. Profound Rain 6. A Walk On The Razors Edge 7. A Great Paradox 8. Timeframe
