Supersonic metal from an alternate universe. Yes, Im talking about Terra Caput Mundi. This three piece band hails from the wastelands of St. Louis, Missouri and theyre ready to thrash your face off and take control of the planet. Lost In The Warp is their second full length and although its independently released on cassette and cd, I predict it wont be long before a record company or two takes notice of this ultra heavy thrash band. Terra Caput Mundi was formed in 2006 when vocalist and bass player Jared Brewer wanted to combine his two biggest interest science fiction and heavy metal. Their lyrics are inspired by the grim darkness of the far future of the Warhammer 40000 universe. Like Bolt Thrower before them, this band could not resist the chaotic, militaristic and oppressive themes that are ever present in the fiction associated with the franchise. Terra Caput Mundi debuted with the Warp Speed Warriors album in 2008 and followed it up with this album released in May of 2013. Lost In The Warp gets up to speed directly with the opening track Inquisitors Inquest. The vocals of bassist Jared Brewer sound like a crossbreed between Schmier from German thrash band Destruction mixed with the snarls of Dave Mustaine. Truly crazy and unique. His high pitched squeals and screams will catch you off guard. They definitely leave their mark and are the backbone of what defines Terra Caput Mundis sound. As the songs rage and thrash along its clear this band knows how to have fun. DestructSean handles guitars and hes immeasurably fast. Galloping riffs with a crunch that could punch a whole in the wall. Superior mind bending solos decorate every song. Drummer Sarah brings utter chaos to the music with double bass and furiously fast beats. There are some really fun thrashing songs on here, like The Tank Crew that have over the top gang vocals. If this song doesnt get you head banging and tearing the place apart then nothing will. A beer drinking anthem in the midst. Sworn To The Saint sounds like the soundtrack to a hobbit on a mission. The title track Lost In The Warp is another track featuring gang vocals. Lost In The Warp is extremely well written and arranged for a second effort. This band knows what theyre doing, fans of Destruction take note! Lost In The Warp is a burning cosmic fuse waiting to explode and it shows us once again that there a lot of great bands in the underground scene
