Terrorizer has returned as a three piece with Pete Sandoval being the only remaining founding member . While the albums that followed the seminal World Downfall were enjoyable , they paled in comparison to that grind core classic . Caustic Attack , while no masterpiece , captures the intensity and heart of World Downfall . Most noticeable is the band have opted for a more grind core approach tinged with Lee Harrison’s black/death metal guitar undertones . The result is a hurricane of an album with more straightforward songs and vocals that stay true to the glory days . The obvious selling point is Pete’s drumming ; he hasn’t sounded this good since his early Morbid Angel days . Caustic Attack also stays true to the band’s lyrical concepts of war and societal injustices . Sam Molina , despite having a nondescript voice , gives a serviceable performance that fits the music much better than the previous vocalist of the past 2 albums . There are just enough enjoyable riffs to keep this album interesting and not blurring into a wall of noise . The production is strong and captures the intensity of Pete’s double bass without being overly polished . This is by far the strongest of the post-reunion Terrorizer albums and a good grind/death album for 2018 . Welcome back , Pete … you still sound as deadly as ever !
