Description

Thalarion is a progressive death doom metal band from Topolcany, Slovakia. The band starts out in 1990 under the moniker of Bastard. They release two demos, Black Raven (1991) and Best Art (1993) but when Juraj Grezdo joins then they decide to change name to Fatal Infection for their third demo Behind The Doors Of Sorrow (1994). When they are offered a record deal then they change name again and this time to Thalarion, meaning the ancient city of mad poets and flying demons (see Lovecraft’s story A White Ship). Their debut Towards The Obscure Slumberland are released in the spring of 1996. A mini album, Dominium Unfold, is recorded later that year for the US label Wild Rags but its never released. Their second release. Tales Of The Woods Thus Was Written was released in December 1998 and it was well received by the world metal scene. This is a first class doom death album with synths, and female harmonies.
