The Allman Brothers may have been big in the 70’s but they kept things going briefly in the 80’s and throughout the 90’s, 00’s and even today. This Essential collection includes highlights from their later studio albums and live albums released in the 90’s and 2000 as well as a live acoustic version of Midnight Rider recorded in 1992 that was originally released on Mycology: An Anthology in 1998. There are 7 tracks that are the same on both collections but with the Essential you get Soulshine, one of the best songs from The Allman Bros. in the 90’s. Then you have several live tracks that are from the earlier period of the band. 70s tracks performed by later line-ups like a long 15 minute version of Jessica. Maybe these older tracks should have been left out to get more material in from the Epic years but I guess there has to be some old tunes as well to please all fans
