Description

E’S, COKE, anything you want… Yeah, you gotta admit it: Brixton knows how to party. No sooner have you navigated your way around the slurring drunks at the bus stop and battled your way past the hordes of Earl Brutus refugees flogging tickets outside – unless of course, they were Earl Brutus – than you’re confronted with an army of people talking in loud voices about how many mind-mangling drugs they have on their person. But shucks, that’s enough about the music biz contingent. This album captures The Chemical Brothers live at just Brixton Academy in London on the 26th of October 1996. The Chemical Brothers were together with the likes of Orbital, Leftfield, Underworld and The Prodigy the bands that helped to drag dance music from the underground into the mainstream. The two DJ’s Tom and Ed were out promoting their debut album Exit Planet Dust and Brixton were one of those places that they would come back to on an almost regular basis. While most other bands hace come and go this due are really the only one of dance musics nineties big guns to remain at the top of their game 30 years later. But while Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons belongs to the old elite that still can produce dance music that is both popular and credible its still fun to travel back to hear the electricity the band could produce at the beginning of their career.
