Description

Whom do we trust
With their pre-election lies
All they give are promises
Policies to hypnotise
Smooth tounged liars
Intelluctual men
Now their power crazy
They’ll destroy us all in the end
They’re anti uk
Anarchys rising again
To rid their hellish schemes
Lets all rule ourselves
Let god save the queen
They’re anti uk

Polish pressed music cassette. Clear cassette with printed paper label. This features 9 tracks from the Death Before Dishonor album with the War Now EP cover artwork

Poland is probably the country that had the most record labels in the world that only released cassettes. But even though there were lots of labels the market was still small as they only printed these for their own market inside of Poland. And a label in one town maybe lacked the distribution for another town and so on. A Warzaw or Krakow label might print more copies of a tape then labels from a smaller town. So even if there are thousands of releases you will notice how rare some are if you start to try to list the catalog number of one particular label. Some cassettes just rarely shows up. One of the bigger cassettes labels were Takt Music in Warsaw and another one was MG Records, which was a sub-label of GM Records (both used the same logo during the early 90s). Just like Takt they started in 1990 and existed up until 1994 and during those 4 years they released approx 3000 tapes. Under the name of GM Records they started a pressing plant in Poland after these cassette years was over.

One of the most riveting British punk rock units of the early 1980s, the Exploited could have cared less about mainstream pop sensibilities and insisted on keeping things raw and hardcore. With The Clash having become more polished, The Damned and Sham 69 having gone downhill and the Sex Pistols having disbanded, The Exploited came to symbolize U.K. punk at its roughest. After a few albums the band headed into the crossover genre and their fifth album, Death Before Dishonour, shows a band that plays music that are faster, harder and thrashier then anything prior to this album. The band were fast morphing from a simple punk rock group founded at the arse end of Scotland into a much more aggressive and nastier force. The idea that their brand of punk rock was becoming close friends with the crossover thrash genre may have raised a few unwilling eyebrows, but the band were still furious and wanted to unite the hardcore punk and thrash veterans into one, rowdy crowd. They were still a politically charged band, and the themes had only grown into bigger, and more interesting concepts. Listen to Anti UK, Scaling The Derry Wall, Death Before Dishonour and you will hear tunes full of emotions like hatred and anger. Tracks such as No Forgiveness and Dont Really Care shows no remorse for any human being whatsoever. As usual Wattie vomits each particular lyric out with such malevolent force it’s hard to forget moments after each song has ended. On the vicious opener Anti UK Wattie orders the crowd to “rid their hellish screams/Lets all rule ourselves/let God save the Queen”, whereas in the similarly riotous yet much thrashier title track, chants of the title itself by each member of the band generate a feeling of unity amongst both the band’s fan-base and those who just want to cause absolute mayhem. It might sound like this album has it all, yes the artwork is brilliant, but still its not the hightlight it could have been. Maybe its Watties choice to try to actually sing on some tracks or maybe its when the bands go into slow Amebix worshiop on Power Struggle that it feels inconsistent or maybe its just the fact that the band has gone from punk to crossover that took some time to accept or just the fact that even if there are plenty of good songs we still have no classic tune when you look back at it. Fans of early D.R.I., Cro-Mags, Suicidal Tendencies etc know exactly the feeling when the band incorporates more metal into their music. It takes a while to fully understand. We were probably more ready when they released the trash metal album The Massacre three years later.
