At least once each festival there is a band which grabs one of the non-headline slots on the bill with both hands. At the Rock Am Ring 2003 festival, this dvd captures that gig on June 6th, it was The Hives that did it. From the second Howlin Pelle Almqvist steps on stage it becomes apparent crowd paricipation isn’t optional. The Hives have a take-no-prisoners approach and before long he is encouraging the crowd to chant along about how good it is to have Sweden’s top musical export back in the Germany. Apart from the blistering pace of the tunes the group are in a class of their own when it comes to dress sense. All in black with white and black checked ties The Hives sound is as slick as their wardrobe and for the first time this weekend the crowd are starting to jump up and down in unison.
