The Lighthouse second EP, Joyride, features six catchy indie-pop songs, all very close together. Its now obvious that this band from Leuven in Belgium has found its own sound, and it is still contagious. This band has not only performed at Pukkelpop but a dozen other festival over Belgium as well as Germany and France. The extensive touring together with this 10″ single should gain the band alot of new followers. Joyride is a very catchy opening song. The drums are reminiscent of the British indie pop act Fickle Friends while the guitar riffs are reminiscent of the Manchester act, The 1975. Like the bulk of The Lighthouse songs, Joyride colours your day with cheerful synths and guitars. Gold is another good pop song while Late Night Swimming shows another side of the band. Its a beautiful and emotional song. With this 6-track EP the band has tried some new things while still being clearly grounded in their own sound. Some songs on here is a multi-layered pop pearl. The vocals go very high right away, the guitars are just as catchy as before and anyone into swinging indie-pop songs should check this band out
