The Party Boys was an Australian all-star hard rock project founded by Paul Christie from Mondo Rock. The band was put together in 1982 when Christie called up several friends to form a band to perform cover songs on the pub circuit for a two-week tour. This project however would last ten years and Christie would put together several different line-ups and durint their years they went through some of Australia’s most successful performers. In In 1986, Angry Anderson (from Rose Tattoo) took over lead vocals and the line-up was then Kevin Borich, Richard Harvey, John Brewster (ex-Angels), and Alan Lancaster (ex-Status Quo). But when Angry Anderson decided to leave and he was replaced by John Swan (from Swanee) then the band really reached its most successful phase. The self titled The Party Boys album was released in December 1987 and included six original songs and a few covers, among them a cover version of Ac/dc’s High Voltage. The albums first single He’s Gonna Step On You Again reached number one in June 1987. At the height of their success, singer John Swan left to work on a film, Chase The Moon, which was never completed, and was briefly replaced by Graham Bonnett. Swan returned for the Party Boys opening for AC/DC on their February 1988 Australian tour.
