The Rods were one of America’s unsung blue-collar heavy metal bands of the 1980s — often compared to Britain’s Motörhead because of their veteran three-piece line-up; their everyman, almost punk-simple image; and, of course, their brash and extremely loud music, which was invariably played on amplifiers set to 11. When listening to their 2019 album, Brotherhood Of Metal, it will takes you straight back to where it all started again….it’s that good! No frills, just great fun headbanging metal. The production is so much better than those 80’s releases. This album rocks hard throughout and definitely a recommended buy for any Rods fan, or fans of traditional hard rock / heavy metal. The line-up is unchanged and happy to see the metal attitude coming through in all the songs. They were clearly not playing around for this record which is good to see since I hated that single they released a few years ago about Great Big Fake Ones (they should have been thoroughly embarrassed by that single). The Brotherhood of Metal is definitely a return to early form for The Rods and highly enjoyable.
