When The Smiths were looking for a producer for their debut album, The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, Troy Tate was chosen. Although after the album was recorded, the band decided to reject these recordings and re-record the album with producer John Porter, whom they had recently worked with recording a BBC Session, instead. Only a few tracks from those first sessions with Troy Tate has made it onto albums. Jeane was released as the B-side of the This Charming Man single, and the version of Pretty Girls Make Graves was the B-side to I Started Something I Couldn’t Finish. This rare Italian 2004 album features 12 tracks from that first Tate studio session and its a must for any fan of the band.
