Description
Still sealed 2016 re-issue
The cultural life of Vänersborg has hardly been particularly spectacular since the days of Birger Sjöberg and Frida. Then The Sound Express released their debtu album in 1969. A very ambitious product. They were compared with established colleagues at the time like Hansson And Karlsson and Bootcut. Both these bands just like The Sound Express comprise mainly of two guys – the Hammond player and a drummer and all the keyboard players are very good. Where this album does differ is that Sound Express use other instruments, namely at times a bass and lead guitar, as well as including a mouth harp. The message from Tillbjörn Persson and Ingemar Landen is wordless. Their music contains a multitude of surprises, effects and interesting arrangements. It’s the sort of music that grabs hold of you and doesn’t let you go until the last groove. One pearl is the bitterly satirical Stand Up For Mr. George Wallace. Maybe the Sound Express music can be regarded as advanced and rather difficult. It’s certainly not the sort of background music you listen to whilst reading the evening newspaper. Listen intensly – you’ll find it’s worth it because there’s so much to be discovered when listening to the Sound Express.
