Double album on grey marbled vinyls. Limited 100 numbered copies
An amazing complete show from the Snowy White era of Thin Lizzy, recorded at the Nakano Sun Plaza in Tokyo, Japan on the 25th of September 1980 (the second of total 8 shows performed during this Japanese tour). Gary Moore was out of the band and both Phil Lynott and Scott Gorham had major drug problems by this time but Lynott still seemed to have been full of ideas. Maybe he felt he had a lot to prove with Moore out of the band. With Chinatown and his solo album Solo In Soho out the same year as well as Renegade already in the pipeline and he had found the time to be part of Gary Moore’s solo album. So it was obvious that Lynotts creative flame was still burning high. Chinatown was made in the same spirit as Black Rose and the album sold well though it was hailed as a let down compared to Black Rose by many fans and journalists. This live recording was found in 2005 and came as a shock and a dream come true for many Thin Lizzy fans. This now features the first known recorded live versions of Genocide, Killer On The Loose and Memory Pain and its also one of the few true soundboard recordings in existence with Thin Lizzy. There are no audible audience and the vocals are very high in the mix. This recording not only features Snowy White but also a seventeen-year-old Darren Wharton on keyboards. Gary Moore and John Sykes had been fascinating guitarists with their quick flickering but the original Thin Lizzy sound was very much based on the twin balance between the guitarists. Snowy White and Scott Gorham has a great balance to melody and twin harmony. Moreover you get a lively blues feeling with Snowy White in the band. Scott Gorham said in later years “that it was a shame to let Snowy play hard rock”. Of course this recording without any flashy guitar hero wouldn’t be complete without Phil Lynotts glittering and beautiful voice
